Local employers ‘flex’ their labour

“Employers along the M4 corridor have woken up to the benefits of deploying flexible resources within their business, and applied this valuable labour pool to good effect over the past year”.  That’s according to Paul Jameson, Managing Director of Outsource UK – a specialist, independent recruitment company, supplying IT and technology staff within the region.

“Whilst economic conditions have meant that head counts have in many instances been frozen, we’ve seen the majority of significant employers tap into contract-based roles to fulfil demand, whilst providing much needed relief to overheads,” explains Jameson.

Outsource UK admits that the permanent job scene has been far slower over the past twelve months but maintains this has been offset by the increase in contract and interim appointments.

“Emerging markets are evidenced primarily in the financial services sector and whilst there are certainly increased challenges in current trading conditions, we are fortunate the company is set to deliver increased growth over this period,” says Jameson.

The last 18 months has challenged businesses to find new ways of operating, to encourage more streamlined functions and to adopt different processes, to create a more fluid and reactive business models, Jameson believes it is these proactive companies and departments that have safeguarded the future of many businesses both locally and nationally.
