The Opportunity

Our client is looking to recruit Delivery Engineers to implement a national roll-out of new hardware across the UK in support of a major Home Office Contract. The role will require you to work outside normal office hours and attend site visits at various locations around the UK.

We are looking for you to have a strong all round knowledge and experience of electronic, electrical and mechanical disciplines. In addition, you should have a good level of experience in health and safety systems and working in challenging conditions.

The Delivery Engineer is responsible for:

  • Removal and Installation activity completed in accordance with the specification
  • Comprehensive records of all installation activities and all tests
  • Perform commissioning and testing on computer controlled monitoring systems at customer sites.
  • Be responsible as part of a team for ensuring that testing is carried out comprehensively on target systems and fully and accurately recorded.
  • Ensuring that the Delivery Manager is informed on the status of the installation and test processes.
  • Be responsible for all assets whether customer or company owned assets carried in vehicles under their charge or utilised whilst carrying out their duties.
  • Be prepared to travel throughout the UK for periods of a number of weeks at a time.
  • Be prepared to work at the weekend and unsocial hours.

The successful candidate will have an excellent range of knowledge and experience in the installation, commissioning and testing of systems containing electronic, electrical and mechanical components and sub-systems.

Specific knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage.

  • Cabling - electrical, fibre and copper, (CAT 5e/6), POE
  • CCTV installation and set - up
  • Installation of I.T. racks
  • Installation of PC's and printers
  • Have knowledge of test processes and procedures of systems and sub-systems.
  • Demonstrate a proven history of systems testing - integration and commissioning.
  • Have some knowledge of CCTV, ANPR and video standards, computer operating systems and computer networking.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams
  • Update "As - Built" documentation
  • Understanding of, and ability to adhere to, all safety procedures and safe working practices

Personal Attributes

  • Experience in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, preferably with at least NVQ 1, 2, 3 or equivalent qualification in electronics, electrical assembly, or engineering.
  • To be able to gain quickly a working knowledge of the operation of IT solutions.
  • Ability to work under broad direction, with minimal supervision, in demanding situations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Personable and flexible, willing to work in a highly focused and demanding environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to integrate into a team environment.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken.
  • Customer focused.
  • Discretion with regard to the customer base and the type of work performed.
  • Integrity with respect to company and customer intellectual property rights.
  • Confident in liaising with the customer on behalf of the company.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative.
  • Flexible and reliable.
  • Willingness to take on and learn new skills.

  • Be willing to work shifts if required.
  • Flexible to travel throughout the UK.
  • Flexible to work unsociable hours.
  • Hold a Full driving licence.
  • Have or be able to obtain a Home Office SC security clearance.
