Outsource UK are currently working with a large Bank who are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer for a 6 month contract based in London.

This role is Outside IR35 and will be currently working remotely.

Job Description:

To work within a software development team to develop, deliver and support the DevOps pipeline for the development team to increase efficiency of their delivery of the Bank application systems to meet business requirements using a range of agile techniques and knowledge of software development and software products underpinned with knowledge of IT operations, support and a regulated finance industry sector such as banking or insurance. This is a "hands on" DevOps development role.

Key Deliverables

DevOps Strategy:

  • Establish and maintain the overall vision for the delivery pipeline; ensuring applicability for teams' project delivery processes
  • Documentation of design and implementation strategy
  • Lead CI/CD pipeline design in conjunction with solution architecture team(s)
  • Monitoring and feedback cycles' design and implementation
  • Ensuring effective solution rollout into teams and existing applications
  • Establishing measurable success and KPIs in pipeline across the DevOps cycle
  • Identification of bottlenecks and performance improvements across deployment cycle
  • Where appropriate socialise CI/CD solution designs with wider Bank

DevOps - BAU

  • Maintaining delivery cadence in conjunction with teams
  • Consulting on solution design and implementation to ensure end-to-end operability of solution
  • Ongoing operational improvements and requirements gathering withDevOps
  • Representing changes in change management in collaboration with teams
  • Maintaining the end-to-end service delivery cycle
  • Building reusable and scalable solutions
  • Lead investigations to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems using a variety of techniques

Essential Skills:

  • 5+ years of professional experience working on cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
  • Production experience of containers and container orchestration tools (Docker/Kuberntes/ECS)
  • Experience in working with enterprise scale applications, API Gateways, high availability architectures, load balancing & disaster recovery
  • Knowledge of application and cloud security fundamentals
  • Experience of setting up CI/CD pipelines including production deployments
  • Solid troubleshooting skills
  • Experience building and working with logging and metrics solutions (ELK/Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana)
  • Commercial experience of at least one configuration management tool (Ansible/Puppet/Salt/Chef)
  • Knowledge of testing pyramids and their application to modern application architectures (microservices/SPAs)
  • Knowledge of modern infrastructure practices
  • Demonstrable experience of debugging applications in at least one major language (e.g. Java/Python/NodeJS/Go)
  • Knowledge of at least one package/dependency management system (e.g. Maven/Gradle/NPM/Composer/Yarn)
  • In depth experience of Git including development and feature based workflows and at least one Git solution (e.g. Github/Gitlab/Gerrit/Bitbucket)
  • AKS (Desirable)
  • Previous development experience (Desirable)
