Role: Principal/Senior Engineer - Stability

Principal/Senior Engineer (Stability) contracts for our defence client based at their Glasgow site.

Role description:

Undertaking Stability modelling and analysis and providing advice and guidance to the Platform Designers to ensure that the Watertight integrity and Stability requirements are met.

Responsible for the delivery of Stability modelling and verification tasks, delivering against the project design requirements.

Undertaking hydrodynamics modelling and analysis and providing advice and guidance to the Platform Designers to ensure that the hydrodynamics targets are met

Responsible for the delivery of hydrodynamics modelling and verification tasks, delivering against the project design requirements

Key accountabilities:

  • Working with the Naval Architecture Manager to deliver the Hydrodyhnamics & Stability modelling & analysis activities.
  • Responsible for delivering the modelling, validation and verification Scope of Work and schedule for Hydrodynamics
  • Specifying the Hydrodynamics Analysis and Measurement capability requirements for the Engineering Function to deliver in support of the project
  • Co-ordinating own activities, including delivery of assessment and guidance of equipment, systems, ship integration and implementation to meet hydrodynamics targets.
  • Maintaining Hydrodynamics predictions in line with the HCF design requirements; assisting with the mitigation of non-compliances and risks; working across project disciplines to achieve resolution.
  • Supporting the system design development by the Stage 1 and Stage 2 teams, ensuring compliance with Hydrodynamic requirements;
  • Responsible for delivering the modelling, validation and verification Scope of Work and schedule for Stability Certification
  • Co-ordinating own activities, including delivery of assessment and guidance of equipment, systems, ship integration and implementation to meet hydrodynamics targets.
  • Maintaining Stability predictions in line with the design requirements; assisting with the mitigation of non-compliances and risks; working across project disciplines to achieve resolution.
  • Supporting the system design development by the Stage 1 and Stage 2 teams, ensuring compliance with Stability requirements;

  • Progressive refinement and updating of Stability models as maturity of design data increases.

  • Provide specialist mechanical/marine engineering expertise to organise and co-ordinate significant aspects of engineering activity within the business to ensure defined objectives are achieved whilst continually maintaining quality and cost. Provide input relevant to own specialist area to policy and strategy.
