Purpose of role:

Develop and Maintain Supply Chain & Planning Bills of Material (BoM) to feed tender activities and material demand

Key Technical Skills

The successful candidate shall demonstrate the ability to:

- Maintain and interrogate large product datasets

- Engage with stakeholders to ensure databases are correct and fit for purpose

- Identify and raise data quality issues

- Engage with IM&T function to ensure database functionality is correct and enhancements are implemented effectively

- Identify and specify IT toolset development where required

- Demonstrate understanding of material demand process

- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of PTC Windchill, Aveva ERM or equivalents and MS Office packages

Company/Industry Knowledge:

- In depth knowledge of the Enterprise Product Data Management (PDM) / Enterprise Requirements Planning (ERP) systems and applications used to design, build and support a complex warship

- Excellent understanding of the typical product data set and its product data lifecycle


- National level qualification in relevant subject, e.g. supply chain, materials management or engineering/technical, or relevant industry experience in lieu

- Gained or working towards Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Accreditation

Key Accountabilities:

- Liaise with Engineering to record and understand material requirements for Supply Chain contracts

- Create and maintain Supply Chain Bill of Quantity (BoQ) Estimate and Advanced Bill of Material (ABoM) Documents

- Working with Supply Chain and Engineering to create and maintain deliverable installable BoM in line contract Delivery Schedules

- Ensure all BoM and BoQ databases are maintained with latest Supply Chain, Planning and Engineering data

- Ensure quality of data in BoM and BoQ databases

- Point of contact for all stakeholder regarding material demand and supply chain data held in the BoM / BoQ

- Liaise closely with the HCF domains to resolve and mitigate material issues

- Embody product change and D&Ds into PDM system

- Monitor change against Reference Ship Design BoMs as required

- Coaching, mentoring and knowledge transfer of BoM Integration processes to AU colleagues

- Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as and when required

Key Outputs/Deliverables:

- Management of the Advanced Bill of Material and Bill of Quantity Estimates

- Management of the Deliverable / Installable Bill of Material Breakdown Structures to enable Planning activities

- Feed material demand into Supply Chain ERM system

- Point of contact for BoM / BoQ / Material Demand queries

- Collate and Prepare Material demand/management metrics

- Quarterly reporting into BoQ Forum

- Escalate demand issues through management team

- Identify process improvements and ensure process documentation is up to date
