Reporting to the Samlesbury Investment Projects FM Team Leader, the successful candidate would be responsible for the management and implementation of Global Projects at customer locations across the UK and Globe, on a wide range of facilities and estates projects. These projects would be in support of New building design & construction activities, often inclusive of; key infrastructure upgrades, utilities installation, building refurbishments, office accommodation and the introduction of bespoke plant & equipment.

The current demand is in support of a new aircraft platform related new and refurbished facilities at an RAF location in North Yorkshire. Upon the successful delivery of an approved design, it is expected that deployment to the construction location would take place to maintain project continuity of the works from design to construction and on to Handover, as part of a small clients team managing the works.

The role involves the following;

  • Interpretation of site customer requirements, leading to the preparation of design specifications, implementation plans and financial business cases.
  • Close liaison with site customers and engineering professionals both internally and external to BAE systems (e.g. Estates Services, Fire, Weapons Effects, RAF Police, Security, Risk Management, Authorised Engineers, Infrastructure 3rd Parties and Maintenance organisations) to ensure design and standards compliance
  • Co-ordination and managing project teams, consultants and contractors to effectively resource the project design and implementation phases
  • Management of Health & Safety and Building Standards throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are designed, coordinated and implemented in line with current company processes and statutory health and safety legislation.

Additional Information

The role responsibilities include;

  • Review and advise on the development of the individual Construction & Operational Plans in support of the contract
  • Support the undertaking of the required commercial and pricing exercises aligned to the project budgets
  • Manage the Professional Services team in the delivery of the Project objectives
  • Manage and maintain the relationships between the DE&S customer and BAE Systems in relation to the facilities element of the project
  • Monitoring implementation progress against the agreed design, programme and quality plans, to achieve the project objectives and progress milestones.
  • Monitor and support the required SHE objectives across all elements of the project, inclusive of CDM & BAE Systems company policy activities.
  • Support the required accreditation process of the Security elements of the project Provide Facilities governance and oversight of the Construction elements of the work
  • Review the RIBA 3 & 4 Designs from the Construction Contractor with the Technical Advisors team, Clerk of Works and relevant Subject Matter Experts (SME's), providing feedback and comment regards the project objectives
  • Review and advice on the development of the Handover, Acceptance and Approvals Plan, required in association with the Station, Customer and Maintenance organisation needs.
  • Supporting any agreed customer transition, fit out and/or capability insertion phases, with close interface with the respective project team, stakeholders and customer.


The role responsibilities include;

  • Manage the conversion of customers User Requirements and Project objectives into a suitable RIBA Design, via a professional design team (employed separately)
  • Support the compilation of required approval documentation at each stage of the project
  • Manage the interface between the Station representatives and Project
  • Provide a focal point for BAE Systems regards all things Construction related, for the RAF Station & BAE Systems stakeholders.
  • Manage the interface of Construction activities and Station operations in support of the project objectives (eg: utilities connections, traffic mgt, security, environmental, quality mgt, FOD Mgt, site operations, etc.)
  • Undertaking site inspections and checks of the working environment in respect of the tasks being undertaken by the Construction contractors, producing site inspection reports, "Go look Sees", identification of defective works, reviewing method statements, witness testing and commissioning.
