The job holder will undertake preparation, research, production and subsequent maintenance of Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPC's) iaw departmental procedures. In addition, you will provide technical assistance and a query answering service to the customer and liaise with various technical departments on aspects related to Initial Provisioning and Illustrated Parts Data.


The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following:

1. Research, preparation and maintenance of technical logistics data, for subsequent use in service operations and maintenance activities.

2. Review and interrogate IPL data to the guidelines of ASD2000M and translate to ASD1000D compilation.

3. Close liaison with all aspects of Typhoon Aircraft engineering, through the interaction with engineering personnel and/or the interrogation of contributory engineering databases.

4. IPD Authors are required to work alongside technical illustrators in the creation of new and amended illustrations as these are a critical part of the technical data.

5. Configuration Control of all published data and the creation/maintenance of a job audit trail.

6. Ensuring that all tasks are delivered within agreed time-scales and to budget.

The Individual

The successful candidate will need to have proven IT skills in particular be conversant with the use of MS Office and MS Outlook. Experience of modern authoring electronic production tool-sets and Standard Generalised Mark-Up Language (SGML) is essential.

Good interpersonal skills are essential with particular emphasis on two-way communication and team working. The successful applicant must also be proficient at verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively research source data. Familiarity with Technical Publications specifications (ASD S1000D, Def Stan 00-60) would also be an advantage.

Applicants should ideally have at least 3 years mechanical/electrical experience preferably in an aerospace engineering environment.

On-the-job training will be provided to get the successful applicant "up-to-speed" on the Technical Publications dept. software application/databases.

In-depth knowledge of the Initial Provisioning List (IPL) / Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC) processes in particular with regard to ASD1000D and ASD2000M would be advantageous but not essential.

A good level of IT literacy is required.

Good interpersonal skills are essential.

Experience of publications toolsets an advantage.

Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings would be an advantage.
