Job description

The primary role of Data Analyst is to support the business' analytics proposition through comprehensive requirements analysis; detailed and accurate preparation varying data; identification, analysis and interpretation of patterns in complex datasets and creation of compelling and information visualisation that supports decision-making for their clients and intermediary partners. Working alongside their analytics, consulting and reporting specialists within the team, the Data Analyst plays a critical role in our evolving eco-system.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Support the evolution of analytics proposition by means of
    • Building, developing, and maintaining a suite of self-service dashboards for use by clients, intermediary partners and within the wider business
    • Supporting the wellbeing programme and white paper research with analytical expertise
    • Comprehensive requirements analysis - ensuring solutions meet business needs, quality assurance strategies and periodic improvement/audit plans
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Create compelling and informative visualisation for effective data storytelling; communication of analytics and insight to businesses and clients
  • Present the results of analysis to technical and non-technical audiences both within the organisation and to external clients
  • Fully document processes, models, calculation specifications, and tools in a detailed and readily auditable way
  • Build efficient and reliable rules to validate, format, and transform data
    • Developing, maintaining and enhancing adviser consultancy reports, benchmarking reports and insurer competitive analysis
    • Driving insight from our Elysium data
  • Enable accurate, efficient and reliable data analytics solutions and insights through
    • Establishing a service-level, prioritising requests and escalating conflicts where appropriate
    • Ensuring that requirements are sufficiently catalogued and documented
    • Liaising with requestors to ensure that requested works meet expectations and that timescales and deliverables are communicated in a clear and timely manner
    • Including robust checks and error handling in all work
    • Identifying any coding or calculation issues for which solutions need to be developed
  • Operate within the required data quality, document management and compliance frameworks in order to develop, maintain and enhance Psyon's activities by means of
    • Maintaining up-to-date information within appropriate document formats relating to report format, content, location, distribution and information classification
    • Preparing and maintaining documentation relating to the delivery and support of Psyon's data analytics solutions
    • Ensuring that deliverables comply with ISO27001, GDPR and other similar regulations and guidelines as required by the business

Competencies & Experience

  • Previous success in a data-driven role with demonstrable ability in using Excel and/or business intelligence and/or visualisation solutions to at least an intermediate level
  • Solid foundational understanding of:
    • Relational databases
    • Data quality dimensions
  • Exposure to the following would be highly advantageous:
    • SQL
    • R / Python
    • Power Query (M)
    • Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
  • Educated to degree level or above in a field including mathematical or statistical content or equivalent professional experience
  • Be expert on analytics tools across Psyon's technology stack including Power BI and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills and a proven ability to plan work on multiple projects with differing timescales
  • Able to articulate complex ideas, debate them and agree them as part of a team
