Application Engineer
12 Month Contract – 37 hours per week
Based: Christchurch
Onsite Full time – Monday to Friday
Hourly rate: £44.74 PAYE or £57.84 per hour Inside IR35
Overview
BAE Systems is looking for a talented and motivated Application Engineer to join their engineering team in Christchurch, supporting a range of high-profile Ministry of Defence programmes.
Working within an established 45-strong team, you’ll contribute to the delivery and support of a fully integrated Command & Control system used across multiple MoD sites.

Responsibilities
- Designing, coding, and testing bespoke software applications
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues within live production environments
- Following established software engineering best practices
- Producing high-quality technical documentation
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Conducting peer reviews and sharing technical knowledge
- Reporting progress and contributing to technical discussions
- Supporting deployment and testing activities at customer sites when required
Skills & Experience:
- Strong proficiency in C# and Visual Studio
- Experience with Windows Forms and .NET Framework
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of the full Software Development Lifecycle
- Experience with configuration management and version control
- Experience deploying software in virtual environments
- Knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2019/2022 configuration
