Electrical Technician – Grangemouth
Location: Grangemouth, Scotland
Salary: £40,000 – £43,600 (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm
This role will focus on carrying out electrical maintenance, inspection, testing and repair activities across operational facilities and pipeline infrastructure, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant and operating efficiently.
The Role As an Electrical Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining electrical infrastructure and responding to operational maintenance requirements. Working closely with maintenance engineers, operational teams and contractors, you will ensure equipment reliability and compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

This role will focus on carrying out electrical maintenance, inspection, testing and repair activities across operational facilities and pipeline infrastructure, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant and operating efficiently.
The Role As an Electrical Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining electrical infrastructure and responding to operational maintenance requirements. Working closely with maintenance engineers, operational teams and contractors, you will ensure equipment reliability and compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical maintenance, inspection and testing in line with maintenance schedules and site procedures.
- Perform electrical isolations in accordance with approved procedures.
- Diagnose faults and respond to breakdowns on electrical equipment.
- Overhaul electrical equipment using OEM manuals and technical drawings.
- Conduct inspections in line with BS60079 and BS7671 requirements.
- Carry out electrical repairs across operational equipment, buildings and site facilities.
- Perform recalibration of instrumentation including pressure, level and flow measurement systems.
- Support maintenance and troubleshooting of tank gauging systems, SCADA and alarm systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders within the CMMS system.
- Assist with stock management and spare parts availability.
- Oversee electrical contractors and ensure work is completed safely and in line with permit systems.
- Review and work to risk assessments and method statements, raising permit-to-work documentation where required.
- Interpret and work from technical documentation including P&IDs, electrical loop drawings, panel drawings and process flow diagrams.
- Support training and development of apprentices and junior technicians.
- Assist with developing procedures and quality assurance documentation.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors to support procurement of electrical equipment and services.
- Completed time-served electrical apprenticeship
- CompEx certification
- 2394/2395 Inspection & Testing
- BS7671 / 17th Edition (or later)
- Experience working within hazardous or industrial environments
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics
- Experience working under permit to work systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team
- Good IT skills and experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Full UK driving licence
