About the Role:
- My global energy client is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Electrical Technician to join their operations based in Essex, with travel to regional sites.
- This role is based within a COMAH-regulated (Control of Major Accident Hazards) environment and involves maintaining and testing electrical systems on critical infrastructure for petroleum transportation and storage.
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance and testing across COMAH sites, ensuring the safe operation of pipeline and terminal systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, collaborating closely with technical and engineering teams.
- Maintain asset records using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Perform regular testing and inspection of LV distribution systems, small power, lighting, fire alarm systems, and hazardous area (ATEX) installations.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and regulations including BS 7671, BS 60079, and COMAH safety protocols.
- Proven electrical experience in industrial/commercial environments — essential.
- Experience working on COMAH sites (e.g. fuel terminals, refineries, chemical or process plants) — highly desirable.
- CompEx qualification (Ex01–Ex04) — desirable.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous area classification, intrinsically safe systems, and explosive atmosphere requirements.
- Willing to work overtime and respond to emergency breakdowns as part of an on-call rota.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
