Senior Automation Software Engineer - New Malden
12-month contract
£37.25 PAYE or £50.17 per hour (Umbrella Inside IR35)
3-4 days onsite

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Automation Software Engineer to join their Install Team, supporting the design, development and maintenance of automation frameworks for naval combat system products. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex technical solutions, shape automation strategy, and support wider engineering teams.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading complex automation solutions and engaging with key stakeholders
• Designing and developing automated system build and deployment tools
• Reviewing, debugging and improving advanced automation scripts
• Providing SME guidance across engineering teams
• Supporting and overseeing junior team members
• Investigating issues and defining effective technical solutions
• Staying current with emerging technologies and best practices

Skills & experience: Essential:

• Experience working with large, complex systems (naval sector ideal)
• Strong software engineering background
• PowerShell or C# expertise
• VMware and virtualisation knowledge

Desirable:

• Installation/deployment automation techniques
• Strong configuration management practices
