Client: BAE Systems Submarines
Location: Barrow-in-Furness (Hybrid – Mostly based on Supplier sites)
Contract: 12-month contract, 37 hours per week
Hourly Rate: £65.19 UMBRELLA (INSIDE IR35) ~ £480pd

BAE Systems is seeking a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer to support our submarine programmes. This hybrid role is primarily based at supplier sites, with approximately two days per week onsite in Barrow-in-Furness. We welcome candidates who are flexible and open to regional travel.

Key responsibilities
- Manage supplier quality, with a strong focus on problem solving and corrective actions.
- Lead the resolution of non-conformance reports (NCRs) and customer complaints.
- Drive corrective action requests (CARs), CAPA and RCCA processes.
- Act as the main point of contact between BAE and suppliers, building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Work closely with mechanical and electrical suppliers across a wide range of submarine equipment.
- Background in Electrical or Mechanical engineering preferred; candidates from other industries (e.g., pharmaceuticals) also considered.
- Strong problem-solving skills using industry-standard tools such as:
- 8D
- Ishikawa
- 5 Whys
- DMAIC (desirable)
- Experience managing supplier relationships and leading resolution of quality issues.
- Lean Six Sigma knowledge welcomed.
