Job: Mechanical Propulsion Engineer

£30.23 PAYE or £40.64 Umbrella
Location: Scotstoun 1-2 days per week on-site
Contract: 12 months (Opportunity to be extended)
Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to mechanical elements of the design of the design of the River Class Destroyer Power and Propulsion systems. Including Propulsion Motors, Diesel Generators, Gas Turbines, Propulsion Gearboxes, Shaftlines, Steering gears and Stabilisers.
  • Provide suppport to the team in order to assess technical compliance, integration and review of design documentation for the ship’s propulsion motors procurement pack.
  • Implement change to P&P systems away from baseline ship design, assessing impacts on equipment, systems and spatial design.
  • Support P&P compartment owners in the Zonal Maturity programme.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Batchelor’s degree with honours or Masters degree (or other qualification plus appropriate further learning to honours degree level) in engineering, technology or science
  • Early Career Associate / Associate/Member membership of an appropriate Professional Engineering Institute, ideally IMarEST, IMechE, IET or CIBSE.
  • Professional registration level: Working towards IEng
  • Experience and expertise, in Marine Engineering Systems
  • Knowledge of processes and tools used in Marine Engineering
