Network Engineer
£74.26 per hour (Umbrella) – £550 per day equivalent
SC Clearable – British Nationals Only (No Criminal Record)
Location: Reading (4 days in office, 1 day from home)
Duration: 6 months initially (extensions likely)
We’re looking for an experienced On-Prem Network Engineer to join a high-security, enterprise-scale environment. You’ll be part of a dedicated engineering team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a secure, scalable on-premises network infrastructure.

We’re looking for an experienced On-Prem Network Engineer to join a high-security, enterprise-scale environment. You’ll be part of a dedicated engineering team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a secure, scalable on-premises network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and optimise on-prem network solutions.
- Build and manage systems across physical and virtualised environments.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security.
- Maintain detailed documentation and ensure compliance with governance and change control.
- Collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality network solutions.
- 3+ years in network engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Firewalls, Switches & Routers, Palo Alto, Fortigate, and NSX-T.
- Strong understanding of Switching, Routing, VLANs, VNets, and network protocols.
- Knowledge of Software Defined Networking and secure-by-design principles.
- Experience working in highly regulated or classified environments.
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Understanding of containerisation and data centre management.
