Job Title: Project Manager – Nuclear Skills & Capability
Client: BAE Systems
Location: Barrow in Furness (3–4 days on site per week)
Duration: 6 Months, 37hrs per week (with opportunity for extension)
Hourly Rate: £63.40 Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)
Clearance Level: BPSS + SC + UK EYES ONLY

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support Nuclear Skills & Capability initiatives within the Submarines business unit. This role will play a key part in ensuring workforce capability and SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel) compliance through structured training, skills development, and governance of capability frameworks.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate projects focused on nuclear skills, training, and capability development.
  • Support compliance with LC/AC 10 Training requirements and the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
  • Develop and manage training frameworks, competency standards, and evaluation processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across HR, Engineering, and Programme Delivery to ensure capability objectives are met.
  • Provide governance, assurance, and reporting to support workforce readiness and capability planning.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and the adoption of new tools and processes to enhance organisational capability.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven background in project management, ideally within defence, nuclear, or highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of training governance, competency frameworks, or SQEP compliance.
  • Experience in capability development, workforce planning, or learning & development projects.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and change management skills.
  • Ability to deliver projects within a complex, multi-programme environment.
