Payroll Manager
12 Month Contract
Based: Preston
Hourly Rate: £27.19 PAYE OR £36.51 umbrella inside IR35
37 Hours per week

Overview
his is a key leadership role where you will inspire and lead a team of payroll professionals responsible for delivering high-volume, high-value monthly payrolls with accuracy and excellence.
You will play a critical role in ensuring outstanding service delivery, driving continuous improvement, and supporting key business and payroll transformation projects.
  
  
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage team performance against SLAs and KPIs, ensuring payrolls are delivered accurately and on time
  • Monitor and analyse quality metrics, providing insight and recommendations
  • Oversee payroll audits and reviews (internal and external)
  • Manage finance reconciliation activities and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items
  • Ensure accurate and timely BACS payments, FPS submissions, and full payroll cycle completion
  • Investigate payroll issues end-to-end, including root cause analysis and preventative actions
  • Support year-end payroll processes and submissions
  
Skills & Experience
  • Extensive payroll experience, ideally within a shared services environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Experience analysing payroll data to identify issues and drive solutions
  • Familiarity with ResourceLink or similar payroll systems (desirable)
  • Proven ability to manage complex or sensitive situations effectively
