Platform Engineer
Based: Warton, Lancashire
Hourly Rate: TBC
Hours: 37 Hours per week
Onsite: Hybrid
Length: 12 months
  
Are you a skilled Platform Engineer ready to take on a critical role in a highly secure, regulated environment?

BAE Systems is looking for an On-Premises Platform Engineer to help design, build, and manage robust, scalable, and secure digital infrastructure that supports the future of our organisation.
  
The Job
  • Designing and implementing both physical and virtual network infrastructure
  • Ensuring the performance, availability, and security of on-prem systems
  • Supporting key technologies including Windows Server/Desktop, Red Hat Linux, Citrix VDI, Active Directory, VMware
  • Collaborating with architects and security experts to deliver a modern, resilient platform
  
  
Skills
3+ years' experience in Platform Engineering or related IT roles
Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Windows & Red Hat Linux Server/Desktop
  • VMware, Citrix VDI, Active Directory, Group Policy
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Bash; Python or Perl a bonus)
Solid understanding of infrastructure fundamentals – switching, routing, firewalls, VLANs/VNets
A proactive, collaborative mindset and the ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment
Familiarity with cyber security practices and Secure-by-Design principles
 Relevant certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP) or equivalent hands-on experience
