Role: Process Development Engineer
Client: BAE Systems
Location: Barrow in Furness (Hybrid) 
Hourly Rate: £53.24 Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)
Contract: 12 Months, 37 hours per week minimum 
Clearance level: BPSS + SC + UK EYES ONLY 
  
About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Process Development Engineer to co-ordinate and deliver process development activities across the organisation. This role demands a professional, structured approach to implementing best practices, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring full compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support process development initiatives, ensuring timely delivery aligned with compliance and performance expectations.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on all aspects of process development, working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Facilitate workshops and development activities to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Challenge current process thinking to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the creation, improvement, and deployment of processes, procedures, and standards, ensuring effective cross-functional integration.
  • Develop and implement KPIs and metrics to monitor process effectiveness.
  • Produce cross-reference and process maps to demonstrate compliance with requirements.
  • Apply industry best practices and recognised methodologies, including Systems Engineering approaches.
  • Conduct internal validation and verification to ensure requirements are met and outcomes delivered.
  • Prepare clear, structured reports to support process development activities.
About You
  • Proven experience in process development or process improvement within a regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, legal, and contractual obligations.
  • Confident facilitator, capable of leading workshops and collaborative activities.
  • Skilled in mapping, analysing, and improving complex processes.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and HS&E requirements.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering or other structured development methodologies is desirable.
  • A natural leader and mentor, able to support and develop junior colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
