Key aspects of the role include:
- Supporting the Vehicle Control Key Safety Function, with a focus on navigation systems.
- Conducting Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard Analysis (HAZAN) in support of submarine design.
- Producing detailed Product Safety functional justification reports.
- Collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
- Delivering specialist safety advice to systems engineers across various submarine programmes.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Functional Safety principles, particularly for complex, software-centric systems.
- HAZID and HAZAN techniques.
- Experience with submarine systems, ideally vehicle control or navigation functions.
- Expertise in producing Formal Safety Assessments.
- Strong track record of team collaboration and delivering to schedule.
- Excellent written communication for producing high-quality technical reports.
- Ability to perform probabilistic analyses.
