F-35 Component Fabricator
RAF Marham – Full-Time Onsite
18-Month Contract
BPSS with SC Clearance (subject to ITAR)
Hourly rate: £23.38 via PAYE or £31.34 via umbrella (Inside IR35)
  
BAE Systems is seeking a skilled F-35 Component Fabricator to join our high-performance Operations and Manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the world’s most advanced aircraft programmes while working in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
  
The Role
Reporting to the F-35 Aircraft Maintenance Manager, you will undertake a variety of manufacturing and fabrication activities on aircraft components. You will work in specialist workshops and aircraft hangars, using precision machinery to drill, mill, cut, and shape metal components to strict aerospace standards.
You will interpret technical drawings, templates, and specifications, fabricate and assemble complex components, and ensure all work complies with approved Technical Information and organisational maintenance standards.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture and modify aircraft parts and components to strict quality standards
  • Operate machinery including drills, mills, grinders, and cutting/forming equipment
  • Perform accurate measurements using calipers, micrometres, and other precision tools
  • Carry out inspections and quality checks on components and assemblies
  • Follow approved joining procedures for mechanical fasteners and fixings
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) requirements
  • Dispose of waste materials correctly and ensure areas are free from Foreign Object Debris (FOD)
  • Accurately record time and report any issues, non-conformance, or faults
Essential Knowledge & Skills
  • Safe systems of work, risk assessment, and workplace standards
  • Tool control, calibration, and product care
  • Understanding of metals (steel, aluminium, titanium) and their fabrication properties
  • Machine drilling, reaming, milling, grinding, cutting, and shaping
  • Fault-finding and human factors awareness
Qualifications
  • Full Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship with formal Level 2 NVQ certification (City & Guilds, IMI, Edexcel, EAL, SEMTA, ATA, or equivalent)
  • Alternatively, evidence of equivalent skills through military or other professional experience
