IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Working Pattern: 1-2 days per month onsite

The Role We are currently recruiting for a Senior Systems Engineer to join a leading engineering programme within the Weapon Systems Engineering function. Reporting into the Systems Engineering Function Lead, this role will play a key part across the full engineering lifecycle, from early concept through to integration, validation and final delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer with strong MBSE and requirements management expertise to work within a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture and define user and stakeholder requirements, including CONOPS development
• Translate operational needs into MBSE models, including use case, activity and sequence diagrams
• Develop and maintain system architectures covering form, function and behaviour
• Lead requirements allocation across design teams and manage delivery activities
• Define and control interface requirements and Interface Control Documentation
• Support full system integration, from component level through to complete system
• Drive Verification and Validation (V&V) activities across the lifecycle
• Engage with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical challenges
• Support design reviews, risk analysis, and technical governance processes
• Contribute to test planning, integration activities and issue resolution
• Ensure designs meet requirements around safety, cost, manufacturability, reliability and compliance

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong background in Systems Engineering across the full lifecycle
• Proven experience in MBSE and requirements management
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams (software, mechanical, electrical)
• Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions
• Experience facilitating design and technical reviews
• Knowledge of risk management processes
• Ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturing drawings
• Strong communication, leadership and task management skills

Desirable Experience

• Experience with Cameo Systems Modeller (Dassault Systèmes)
• Knowledge of SysML and simulation techniques
• Familiarity with PLM tools (Teamcenter) and ERP systems (SAP)
• Experience using Jira for task management
• Background working with MoD/DoD or defence programmes

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline
• Minimum 5 years Systems Engineering experience
• Working towards or achieved Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status

• Occasional international travel may be required
