Product Development Engineer
Location: BAE Systems Land UK – Glascoed, Monmouthshire
Contract: 12‑month contract
Working pattern: 4 days per week on site
Rate: £28.47 PAYE / £38.25 Umbrella
We're supporting BAE Systems to find two Product Development Engineers to support critical defence programmes at their Glascoed site. These roles offer the chance to work across the full product lifecycle in a safety‑critical, high‑hazard engineering environment, with opportunities spanning design, development, trials and manufacturing support.
These are varied roles and would suit engineers with experience in product design, systems engineering, manufacturing, trials or process development, particularly within regulated industries.

The role Depending on background and experience, you will support one or more of the following activities:
- Supporting product and systems engineering activities for new and legacy defence products
- Product and process design, development and evaluation across the full lifecycle
- Planning, conducting and reporting product trials in a safe and controlled manner
- Application of engineering governance, including design reviews and configuration control
- Use of engineering analysis and design tools (e.g. DFMEA, FTA, Pugh matrices, PFMEA, process control plans)
- Hands‑on development and support to manufacturing and trials activities where required
- Configuration and maintenance of Engineering Bills of Materials
- Supporting costed proposals for internal and external customers
- Cross‑functional collaboration with manufacturing, test, project and systems teams

Essential:
- Proven experience supporting engineering teams or projects in a technical environment
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Experience working within regulated or safety‑critical industries
- Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent experience in Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience with product or process design tools (DFMEA, PFMEA, FTA, PCP, Pugh matrices)
- Trials planning, execution and reporting experience
- Manufacturing or process engineering experience in a high‑hazard environment
- Working knowledge of systems engineering and engineering governance
- IOSH / NEBOSH or similar safety qualification
- Current or previous UK Security Clearance (SC)
