Design Engineer – BAE Systems Location: Glascoed
Duration: 12 Months
Rate: £23.48 per hour
Working Pattern: Monday–Thursday, 7:15am–5:00pm (37 hours)
Hybrid: 3–4 days onsite per week
Security: BPSS & SC required prior to starting
The Opportunity BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to support future programmes within the Engineering – Munitions team.
You will support the Senior Engineer with the preparation of models, engineering drawings and Bills of Materials for customised equipment.

The Opportunity BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to support future programmes within the Engineering – Munitions team.
You will support the Senior Engineer with the preparation of models, engineering drawings and Bills of Materials for customised equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce engineering drawings and Bills of Materials.
- Create models and drawings for customised equipment.
- Apply BS 8888, ISO 9001, materials and GD&T requirements.
- Liaise with Product, Process and Manufacturing Engineers.
- Support one-off and batch manufacturing processes.
- Ensure designs meet internal engineering and sign-off requirements.
- Previous Drawing Office experience.
- Proficient with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Experience designing precision equipment, fixtures, jigs and tooling.
- Experience with fabricated components, weld assemblies and sheet metal.
- Knowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing processes and tolerances.
- Practical understanding of machining and fabrication.
- Pneumatic, hydraulic or electromechanical experience.
- Knowledge of ATEX, PUWER, LOLER and Pressure Systems.
- Experience with lifting equipment, fume extraction or industrial pipework.
- Mechanical stress calculation experience.
- HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design or related subject.
