Control & Instrumentation Engineer (Functional Safety / Automation)
Home-based |£60,000- £75,000 + Bonus + CAR
We’re working with a global leader in bulk liquid storage and transportation to find a Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer with strong expertise in Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511).
About the Role:
You will take technical ownership of automation and control systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS, IACS) across high-hazard COMAH sites. This role offers home-based flexibility but requires regular travel (approximately 50%) to company assets either in the North West of England.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead maintenance, upgrades, and commissioning of control systems.
- Manage Functional Safety lifecycle activities, including SIS design and SIL verification.
- Support HAZOP/LOPA studies and work closely with safety and process teams.
- Liaise with vendors and contractors to ensure compliance and resolve issues.
- Ensure all activities meet COMAH regulations and engineering standards.
- experience in Control & Instrumentation Engineering, preferably in process or high-risk industries.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Functional Safety
- Proven skills with SCADA, PLC, DCS systems and industrial networking protocols.
