Human Factors Engineer
Location: BAE Systems, Barrow-in-Furness
Duration: 6 months
Rate: £66.41 PAYE or £89.75 Umbrella
Working Arrangements: 2-3 days on site per week
The Role
We are seeking a Principal Engineer – Human Factors to support the design of safe, effective and user-focused products across our major boat programmes and site-based projects. You will ensure human performance is optimised and the risk of human error is minimised throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide Human Factors input to design and analysis activities.
- Undertake task, workload, situational awareness and reliability assessments.
- Conduct workspace and Human Machine Interface analysis.
- Support health hazard assessments and safety justifications.
- Produce Human Factors reports and represent the discipline at technical reviews.
- Work closely with engineers and project teams across programmes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a Human Factors practitioner.
- Degree (or equivalent) in a Human Factors related discipline (preferred).
- Ability to achieve relevant Professional Institution membership.
