HVAC Detail Designer
Location: Portsmouth or Glasgow
Duration: 12 months
Working arrangements: Hybrid (2-3 days on site, no set days)
Hourly Rate: £31.29 PAYE or £42.08 Umbrella
Security restrictions: BPSS + SC in flight
We’re looking for a Design Engineer (HVAC) to join the Detail Design team, supporting the delivery of Stages 2 & 3 of HVAC design solutions. You’ll work on developing high-quality designs, supporting operations, and contributing to continuous improvement across tools and processes.

We’re looking for a Design Engineer (HVAC) to join the Detail Design team, supporting the delivery of Stages 2 & 3 of HVAC design solutions. You’ll work on developing high-quality designs, supporting operations, and contributing to continuous improvement across tools and processes.
What You’ll Do
- Produce and develop detailed HVAC designs using appropriate design tools (e.g., Foran, CE).
- Ensure designs meet technical standards and quality requirements.
- Investigate and resolve design or operational issues.
- Support best-practice development and mentor less experienced team members.
- Verify your own work and assist in checking others' outputs.
- 2+ years’ experience in engineering, defence, or a related industry.
- Strong technical knowledge within your discipline and experience with draughting/analytical tools.
- Understanding of engineering lifecycle processes and product safety.
- HNC/HND in engineering, technology, or science (expected).
