Payroll Administrator
Client: BAE Systems
Location: Preston, Shared Services – Employee & Business Support
Duration: 12 months
Hourly Rate: £15.46 PAYE
Working Arrangements: 1-2 days per week on site

About the Role
Are you passionate about precision, people, and process? We’re looking for a Payroll Administrator to join our Payroll Operations team — a fast-paced environment where accuracy and customer service go hand in hand.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for the accurate and timely administration of complex, high-volume payrolls, ensuring compliance with HMRC legislation and company standards. You’ll play an essential part in maintaining smooth payroll operations, supporting audits and reviews, and driving continuous improvement across the function.
  
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in UK payroll administration.
  • Proven experience managing multiple payrolls within a service environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and awareness of upcoming changes.
  • High proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong initiative.
  • Collaborative and professional approach when dealing with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information and communicate at all levels.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, grades A–C.
Desirable:
  • Experience with ResourceLink or similar payroll systems.
  • CIPP or equivalent payroll qualification.
