Project Manager - Risk
Location: Barrow-in-Furness (Hybrid – 2 days on-site per fortnight)
Duration: 12 months
Rate: £40.00 PAYE or £53.90 Umbrella (Inside IR35)
Security Clearance: BPSS + SC (UK Eyes Only, subject to ITAR)
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
About the Role:
BAE Systems Submarines is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Planning, Monitoring & Control Professional to support the Risk & Opportunity Management Lead on the SSNA Programme. This role involves maintaining the Strategic Risk Register, supporting strategic risk owners, and contributing to key programme reports including the Balanced Scorecard.

BAE Systems Submarines is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Planning, Monitoring & Control Professional to support the Risk & Opportunity Management Lead on the SSNA Programme. This role involves maintaining the Strategic Risk Register, supporting strategic risk owners, and contributing to key programme reports including the Balanced Scorecard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update the SSNR strategic risk register as the single source of truth.
- Collaborate with strategic and programme-level risk owners to develop and update risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepare monthly risk reports for senior leadership and contribute to programme-wide scorecards.
- Conduct independent assurance reviews of Integrated Projects’ (IP) risk processes.
- Coordinate regular meetings and workshops with stakeholders across the programme.
- Support development and maintenance of risk tools, techniques (e.g., Bow Tie), and management plans.
- Ensure effective communication of risk insights and outcomes across senior leadership and delivery teams.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in project controls, ideally in a risk-focused environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; ARM experience desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex programme environment.
- Defence or large-scale infrastructure project experience is advantageous
