Senior Buyer - Defence
12 months
Based:  Samlesbury – onsite up to 3 days per week
Hourly Rate: £29.00 Paye or £38.97 Umbrella inside IR35
37 Hours per week
  
Overview
As part of the Infrastructure Category Team, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end procurement for major Manufacturing Equipment projects across our Samlesbury and Warton sites
  
Skills 
  • A strong background in procurement or supply chain, ideally with experience in manufacturing equipment or construction categories
  • Solid understanding of contract law and commercial terms, with strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Word
  • Ideally, 5+ years of procurement experience, and CIPS accreditation
  
The Job
  • Leading procurement activity for capital equipment and manufacturing infrastructure
  • Developing and executing strategic procurement and contracting plans
  • Preparing RFPs and pre-qualification documents, and leading competitive tenders
  • Collaborating with internal SMEs and stakeholders to assess bids and select suppliers
  • Drafting and negotiating robust, commercially sound contracts
  • Delivering cost savings and value through effective supplier management
  • Visiting supplier sites and evaluating capabilities where required
  • Continuously seeking process improvements and innovation
