Hourly Rate: Up to £750pd inside IR35
Location: Gosport - fully on-site Monday-Thursday
Contract: 6 months (opportunity to be extended)
Working Hours: 37 hours per week

About The Role
Sopra Steria are looking for a DV cleared highly experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to join the team and support on their critical database services across a complex, secure environment. 

You will work closely with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams, playing a key role in maintaining their evolving SQL Server estate while driving automation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advanced administration of Microsoft SQL Server environments across multiple tiers
• Management of SQL Server Failover Clusters (WSFC)
• Management of DR environments and failover processes
• Support SQL Server workloads hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
• Plan and execute monthly SQL Server patching cycles
• Develop T-SQL and PowerShell scripts to automate tasks

Skills & Qualifications:
Essential
Current DV clearance
Extensive experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments
Strong expertise in:
SQL Server administration (2016+ preferred)
High Availability (WSFC, Always On)
Backup, recovery, and DR planning
Experience with performance tuning and optimisation
Strong scripting skills (T-SQL, PowerShell)
Experience working in controlled / secure environments

Desirable
Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk
Exposure to automation and Infrastructure as Code principles
Experience supporting ETL or data integration platforms
