Client: BAE Systems
Location: Barrow-in-Furness (2–4 days on site per week)
Duration: 6 Months, 37 hrs per week (with opportunity for extension)
Hourly Rate: £63.40 Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)
Clearance Level: BPSS + SC + UK EYES ONLY
Overview
We are seeking an organised and detail-focused Training Consultant to join the Compliance Training team within the Submarines business unit. This is a critical role supporting Nuclear Skills & Capability initiatives, ensuring workforce compliance with SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel) standards through the design, assurance, and delivery of structured training.
You’ll be part of a small but growing team, helping to onboard new members and strengthen governance around capability frameworks. The environment demands rigour, security awareness, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the coordination and assurance of training delivered to the nuclear business.
- Run training content through internal checks before release, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Support the design and delivery of training material, including classroom content.
- Conduct training needs analysis and ensure alignment to SQEP and SAT (Systematic Approach to Training) standards.
- Observe training sessions and assess learner outcomes.
- Provide assurance and governance around training effectiveness.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance and readiness for regulatory requirements.
- Attend onsite meetings and support new team integration.
Key Skills & Experience
- Background in nuclear, defence, or similarly regulated industries preferred (training experience in other highly regulated environments will be considered).
- Strong experience in Learning & Development, Training Needs Analysis, and Training Design.
- Knowledge of compliance, assurance, and governance processes in training environments.
- IT savvy and comfortable with systems supporting L&D.
- Experience with SQEP in training/L&D highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Transferable skills from a training background welcomed.
