V05390 Principal Engineer - Safety & Environmental Engineering (Product Safety) (Whole Boat)
Location: Barrow | Contract: 6 months | Hybrid Rate: £65 PAYE or £87.83 via umbrella
BAE Systems is looking for a Principal Product Safety Engineer to support the Whole Boat Engineering Delivery Manager in developing, delivering and maintaining the Product Safety Management System and Safety Case. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the submarine platform remains safe to own, operate and support.

Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage Whole Boat Product Safety requirements.
- Develop and update the Safety Management System and Safety Management Plans.
- Lead hazard identification, risk assessment and safety analysis activities.
- Administer the Project Hazard Log and contribute to Safety Case reporting.
- Provide product safety guidance across engineering and wider project teams.
- Prepare and present clear, structured technical safety arguments.
- Support and deliver safety training across the organisation.
- Lead customer engagement and contribute to reviews and working groups.
- Strong understanding of submarine lifecycle phases and operating environments.
- Ability to evaluate complex technical issues and draw sound safety conclusions.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools.
- STEM degree (expected) with chartership preferred or in progress.
