Job Title: Principal Engineer - Safety & Environmental Engineering (Product Safety) Location: Barrow-in-Furness (Hybrid) Contract: 6 Months | Rate: £65 PAYE or 87.83 via umbrella

Overview

BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Product Safety Engineer to support submarine safety activities, lead hazard and risk assessments, and contribute to the delivery of the Whole Boat Product Safety Case. You'll work within the Safety Management System and provide expert guidance across the engineering community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead hazard identification and risk assessment activities.
• Support development of Product Safety requirements and Safety Case content.
• Maintain the Hazard Log and produce clear safety arguments.
• Provide safety engineering advice to technical teams and stakeholders.
• Deliver and develop training materials for Product Safety.
• Chair hazard meetings and lead relevant working groups.
• Conduct peer reviews and mentor junior safety engineers.

Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of submarine lifecycle phases.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret technical data.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• STEM degree (preferred).
• Chartered or working towards (preferred).
