Manufacturing Engineer – NC/CMM Programmer (Machining)
Location: BAE Systems Warton
Contract: 12 months
Working Pattern: 4–5 days on site per week
Security Clearance: BPSS required, SC in Flight (UK Eyes Only, subject to ITAR)
The Role
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – NC/CMM Programmer with experience in multi-axis machining and/or CMM programming to support the development of digital manufacturing processes for precision machined components.
You will translate CAD models, drawings and manufacturing specifications into efficient NC machining and inspection programs using modern CAD/CAM and simulation tools. The role requires strong knowledge of machining principles, dimensional management, and design for manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
You will join a small, collaborative team of four engineers and a team leader, working on advanced manufacturing engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise multi-axis NC machining programs
- Create and support CMM inspection programs
- Translate engineering design data into digital manufacturing processes
- Support process planning, dimensional management and manufacturing improvements
- Use simulation tools to validate machining strategies
- Work closely with engineering, production and quality teams to resolve manufacturing challenges
- Experience in NC programming and/or CMM programming
- Good understanding of machining processes and manufacturing principles
- Experience with CAD/CAM systems such as:
- CATIA V5
- Siemens NX
- Autodesk PowerMill / PowerShape or similar
- Experience with simulation tools such as CGTech Vericut
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Familiarity with PLM, SAP CAM, Shop Floor Manager or similar manufacturing systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Engineering Degree, HNC/HND, or recognised engineering apprenticeship with relevant experience (aerospace or similar industry desirable)
