Barrow-in-Furness
12-Month Contract (Maternity Cover)
⏰ 37 Hours per Week
Hybrid – 2 Days Onsite
£23.70 per hour PAYE or £31.78 via umbrella (inside IR35)

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Procurement Practitioner to join a high-performing procurement team supporting a critical phase of the Dreadnought Programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of procurement activities within a complex and highly regulated environment.

You will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activities, ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services to quality, cost, and schedule requirements while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver end-to-end procurement activities including RFQs, negotiations, purchase order creation, and supplier management
  • Manage supplier performance and ensure delivery against quality, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Support supplier assessment and due diligence activities
  • Track and report cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives
  • Resolve routine supplier issues and escalate complex problems when required
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and update systems including SAP, eDMS, and Teamcenter
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and drive continuous improvement
  • Support contract and tender processes including RFIs, ITTs, and supplier down-selection activities
  • Assist with cost forecasting within assigned procurement scope
Skills & Experience
  • Sound knowledge of procurement principles and supply chain practices
  • Experience in supplier management, negotiation, and contract administration
  • Good understanding of commercial aspects of contracts
  • Strong organisation, planning, and project management skills
  • Good financial awareness and cost management capability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and enterprise business systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
