Senior Procurement Practitioner
Barrow-in-Furness (Hybrid: 2–3 days WFH)
37 hours per week | 12-month contract
£23.70 per hour (PAYE)

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Procurement Practitioner to join a growing Supply Chain Excellence Governance & Assurance team. Reporting to the Procurement Leader, you will play a central role in ensuring robust governance and assurance across the supply chain function, supporting critical submarine programmes.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be joining a growing Supply Chain Excellence organisation of 50+ professionals, working across major submarine programmes. This role includes line management responsibility for two Procurement Professionals and offers the chance to shape governance practices in a critical national programme.

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Procurement Practitioner to join a growing Supply Chain Excellence Governance & Assurance team. Reporting to the Procurement Leader, you will play a central role in ensuring robust governance and assurance across the supply chain function, supporting critical submarine programmes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and support governance & assurance activities across the central Supply Chain function and its programmes
- Ensure adherence to governance processes and verify the integrity of assurance activities
- Manage and influence a diverse range of stakeholders, promoting the value of Supply Chain
- Support and maintain the Supply Chain Excellence Assurance Schedule
- Conduct process confirmations, reviews, and audits in line with quality standards
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the function
- Manage and track actions within the submarine action management system
- Collaborate with Shared Services and programme teams to identify efficiencies and opportunities
- Contribute to knowledge management to reduce single points of failure
- Support performance reporting and evidence gathering for assurance activities
- Procurement lifecycle
- Supplier and stakeholder management
- Contract placement and management
- Commercial and legal aspects of contracts
- Project management and logistics lifecycle
- Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g. ISO standards, export control, nuclear or security standards) is advantageous
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Data gathering and reporting capability
- CIPS (desirable, not essential)
- ISO 9001 auditing experience (highly desirable)
