Material Controller
BAE Systems
Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract Type: 12 months, 37 hours per week
Working Arrangements: 2-3 days on site per week
Hourly Rate: £25 PAYE or £33.54 Umbrella
We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Material Controller to join our Supply Chain team. In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure materials are available and ready in line with our System of Work, supporting delivery of key project milestones. You’ll act as the main interface between Integrated Project/Working Teams (IPT/IWT), Planning, and Material Suppliers—playing a critical role in driving material readiness and resolving supply chain challenges.
You’ll also support Principal Material Controllers, helping ensure the smooth flow of materials and contributing to continuous improvement across the business.
About You
You’ll bring a proactive, problem-solving mindset and a strong understanding of supply chain processes. You’ll have excellent communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships across teams and suppliers.

Essential Skills & Attributes:
- Proven experience in a Supply Chain or Materials Management role.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and familiar with business systems.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
- Self-motivated and able to manage priorities to meet deadlines.
- Experience in expediting materials and managing shortages.
